Peloton Supports SAFE National Strategy for Energy Security

Washington, DC – Peloton Technology CEO Josh Switkes will speak at the launch of Security America’s Future Energy’s (SAFE) inaugural “National Strategy for Energy Security” in Washington, DC on May 19, 2016. The strategy offers policy recommendations that aim to harness innovation in the transportation sector, including vehicle automation, to support national energy independence.

Dr. Switkes joins an impressive list of guests participating in the strategy launch, including President and CEO of FedEx Corporation Frederick W. Smith, 34th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps General James T. Conway (Ret.), and former Director of National Intelligence Admiral Dennis C. Blair (Ret.).

“Freight trucking is a critical piece of the U.S. economy, relied on by countless other industries,” remarks Dr. Switkes. “At the same time, heavy trucks in the U.S. burned more fuel in 2013 than what we imported from the entire Persian Gulf that year. It is important to ensure we make trucking as efficient and resilient to external supply shocks as possible, and technologies such as truck platooning can help by providing significant fuel efficiency and safety improvements.”
